Drive Entering China with your own vehicle requires prearrangement of permits and licenses. We have years of experience assisting those wishing to enter and drive in China with their foreign-licensed motorcycle or four-wheeled vehicle (car, four-wheel drive vehicle or caravan). Entering and exiting Xinjiang with your foreign-licensed motor vehicle is easier and less costly than inter-province travel. We can arrange both types. Contact us to for details regarding paperwork requirements and a cost quote. Please note that foreign-licensed motorcycles are not allowed to travel inter-province or autonomous region with the exception of Xinjiang to Tibet (or the reverse). What is allowed, with prearranged permits and licensing, is to enter Xinjiang or Tibet from a foreign country, motor about one or both autonomous regions and then exit to a foreign country. The most common route for vehicles entering Xinjiang is to enter from Kyrgyzstan via Torugart Pass or Irkeshtam Pass, be met by a required Chinese liaison officer/guide in his car with driver, and drive to Kashgar. From Kashgar drive to Tashkorgan on the Karakoram Highway and exit to Pakistan over Khunjerab Pass. The reverse of this route is also popular for those coming from the Indian Subcontinent. Please contact us for additional and updated information. The paperwork can take some time and regulations change without warning. Contact us to discuss your plans. |
